How you make an impact What you’ll do: Under the supervision of the Director, Human Resources, and working in collaboration with the Regional Director of Stores Operations in Quebec and in Atlantic Canada, the Human Resources Business Partner provides human resources support for management and team members, including recruiting and hiring applicants according to staffing needs, and conducting new team member orientation. Maintain close contact with corporate human resources to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and provincial employment laws and regulations. Provide team member relations support and work with management and team members to ensure the highest level of morale and productivity. Provide reporting office administration support for management. More specifically, he or she will accomplish the following essential functions: Partner with management to assist with the recruiting process of open positions. Actively work with HR Director and Store Operators to identify, and create solutions to resolve employee turnover challenges. Identify, create, and implement best practices to acquire, and retain top talent. Maintain current job requisitions. Prepare and post internal and corporate job opening announcements. Coordinate the application process and conduct preliminary interviews. Work to ensure high team member morale and coordinate the progressive discipline process and application of other human resources policies with local management and corporate. Conduct new team member orientation, responsible for the timely completion of new hire paperwork, and benefit enrollment information if not done through the HRIS. Process team member status changes for approval and submit to corporate human resources. Answer questions from team members concerning benefits, insurance, and any personnel questions that may arise. Performance review: Maintain performance evaluation schedule and coordinate the process, making sure that performance evaluations are completed on time. Ensure compliance with all local, provincial laws and regulations. Health & Safety: Manage all work-related team member injuries. Responsible for the prompt reporting of all accidents to the claim administrator. Coordinate post-accident claim management with the injured team member’s supervisors and the safety representative. Responsibilities may include: Assist injured team members with instruction when requested, as well as follow up with medical providers regarding work releases and restrictions. Ensure frequent communication with the injured team member, including contact by the team member's supervisor. Coordinate transitional modified early return to work, including a written “light duties” job. Work with the Safety Representative (if applicable) and the team members’ supervisor to ensure understanding and compliance with restrictions. Ensure workers’ compensation claims are handled accordingly Provide timely information and the team member's supervisor regarding physical restrictions. Coordinate various training programs for team members and supervisors. Labour Relations: Investigate, analyze, and exercise sound judgement to make appropriate decisions to resolve complex employee relations issues in accordance to company policy, and provincial laws. Reporting- Support the management and assist with developing reports and procedures for team member information, productivity tracking, and various other reports. Track various labour reports and turnover. Supervise, schedule, train, and assist clerical team members in all aspects of daily operations. Perform evaluations and recommend pay adjustments. Ensure compliance and familiarity with company policies, procedures, and other information. Responsible for ensuring that distribution and information flow properly from the corporate to the supervisors and team members. Training and support- Responsible for training all communication systems and tools. Coordinate various training programs for team members and supervisors. Work with the corporate IT department on changes to user profiles, adding new users, HRIS upgrades, and any special system needs. Attend supervisors' meetings, updating supervisors on HR and administration information, and produce minutes for distribution. Coordinate information from all departments and work with internal communications. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications we look for A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Five years in a Human Resources role in the retail industry. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle multiple tasks and perform them accurately. Must be able to work closely and well with others in a team environment. Excellent communication, leadership, and employee relations skills. Record of organizational, recruiting, and counselling skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask Fluent in English and French Frequent travel required Assets HR certification (e.g., CHRP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR). Experience supporting high-growth or multi-region organizations in the retail business. Advanced experience with HR analytics and workforce planning tools.
