Company Description The Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM) is the professional organization representing midwives and the practice of midwifery across Ontario. Governed by a Board of Directors, the AOM advocates for midwives as registered health-care professionals who provide primary care to low-risk clients throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the six weeks following birth. The organization supports more than 1,000 midwives in the province, promoting high-quality, client-centered care. As a membership-based, values-driven organization, the AOM focuses on advancing the profession, influencing health policy, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment for midwives and staff. Role Description The Director, Finance, Human Resources and Operations is a full-time leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial management, human resources functions, and operational systems. Based in Toronto, ON, this hybrid role combines on-site work with the option for some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and managing budgets, financial reporting, and ensuring sound internal controls and compliance with relevant legislation and policies. The Director will lead HR strategy and processes, including recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits, staff development, and workplace culture initiatives. This role also oversees operational planning, risk management, technology and office infrastructure, vendor relationships, and supports the Board of Directors with timely financial and operational information for decision-making. The Director collaborates closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align resources with organizational goals and maintain efficient, inclusive, and sustainable operations. Qualifications Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and overseeing audits and compliance. Experience in human resources leadership, including recruitment, performance management, policy development, and fostering an equitable, inclusive workplace. Operational and administrative expertise in office management, systems and process improvement, risk management, and vendor/contract oversight. Proficiency with accounting and HR systems, productivity tools, and data analysis for decision support and reporting. Demonstrated leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to mentor staff, build collaborative teams, and manage change. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with boards or governance structures. Relevant post-secondary education in finance, accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related field; professional designation (e.g., CPA, CHRP/CHRL) is an asset. Experience in a nonprofit, association, or health-care environment, and an understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in organizational practice.
