    Description :

    Vice –President of Human Resources

    An Edmonton-based window manufacturing company with manufacturing and sales branches across Canada, is seeking a Vice-President of Human Resources. This position is responsible for having corporate programs and processes in place and operating effectively to strengthen our “people” base, as well as ensure the human capacity for change and continuous business growth. The incumbent participates as a member of the Executive management team.

     The specific areas of responsibility are:

    • Lead the corporate human resource function, in accordance with established plans, priorities and expectations to achieve the business vision, strategic plan and related goals.
    • Lead, coordinate and be responsible for the development of the corporate human resource function, plans and strategies, in accordance with the strategic and business plans of the Company and related priorities.
    • Lead, coordinate and be responsible for the development of Occupational Health and Safety programs and strategies, in accordance with law and the Company’s priorities; this includes leading and coordinating the Company’s workplace safety and employee wellness programs.
    • Participate directly in the Company’s planning process through preparation of human resource input information and statistics to enable fact-based deliberations and decision making.
    • Develop, maintain and monitor an effective framework of human resource policies and procedures for the Company, including, but not limited to:

    •           Human Resource Planning;

    •           Recruitment and Selection;

    •           Employee Training and Development;

    •           Performance Management and Evaluation;

    •           Compensation and Benefits; and

    •           Employee Relations including Communication.

    • Undertake special projects as needed.

    Selection Criteria

    • Ideally, post-secondary education, with a focus on the social sciences, human resources or directly relevant field of studies.
    • Possesses formal human resource management education and/or certification (e.g., CHRP), and registration in the Human Resource Institute of Alberta.
    • Demonstrated, successful progression of human resource experience covering the majority of areas that currently fall within the scope of the role.
    • Demonstrated, successful human resource functional leadership experience, including direct supervision / leadership of professional human resource staff.
    • Demonstrated understanding of current human resource legislation, regulations and administration.
    • Strong service and “team” orientation, with a focus on making the human resource function a respected aspect of the Company’s success.
    • Demonstrated, effective communication skills, including oral, written and presentation abilities.
    • Demonstrated analytical techniques that incorporate diverse perspectives, including the broader corporate vision, strategies and goals; a strategic thinker with hands-on capabilities.
